Speed Boat Drivers Level 1 - Inland Waters Only (SBD1)

The Speed Boat Driver (SBD) Level 1 is a full day course. This includes some training prior to your assessment. You will have half a day in the classroom and half a day on the water followed by your exam. We would strongly advise you have boat driving experience before booking your test, if you have not had experience beofre your SBD this could result in failing the test. If you would like to gain some experience driving a boat, please call us to discuss how you can gain experience. 

What do I need before applying for the SBD1?
Before applying to complete a Ski Boat Driver Level 1 all candidates must meet the following pre-requisites:        
• Be a current member of British Water Ski and Wakeboard 
• Be aged 16 years or over 
• Have some experience of driving water skiers (under supervision) or arrange to take lessons
• Read, and be familiar with, the SBD1 Assessment handout. (This can be found at https://www.bwsw.org.uk/resources/sbd-1-presentation-workbook-2016/ )

If you have not had experience before your SBD, this could result in failing the test. If you would like to gain some experience driving a boat, please call us to discuss how you can gain experience.

What to bring with you:
1. Speed Boat
2. Speed Boat insurance3. BWSW Membership card (Or alternative proof of membership) - If you have not yet joined you will have to join via us on the day, £55 per adult membership.
4. Wakeboarding/Waterskiing equipment as you wil be required to tow someone behind the yourboat. Alternatively, you can bring a skier along with you.
5. Cheque for £40 each for the BWSW License Fee.
